The club usually does one of these AVA walks each month from May through October. The walks will be posted here as scheduled.
INTRODUCING the AVA COMMITTEE: Jennie Gordon Jennie's ongoing role for the committee is to keep updated on the special programs; to find out if our YRE's qualify for any new ones. Her specific task was to outfit the club with name tags. Don't they look great on the green t-shirts? She joined the Trekkers in 2005 while still working so it wasn't until after retiring in 2007 that she was able to actively join club hikes. Jennie finds hiking the peaks and enjoying the vistas very rewarding and is working to complete the Tahoe Rim Trail. She started 2011as the newly elected club President and welcomes her new role. Jennie discovered volkssporting while participating in her first AVA walk in June 2000 on Crazy Horse Monument, SD and has completed 46 events. She is currently working on filling in the Walking the USA book; a special program to walk a city that begins with each letter of the alphabet. So far she has completed 12 cities with just 14 left to finish the A-Z book. Crazy Horse was one of her favorite AVA events along with the Multnomah Falls walk in Cascade Locks, OR along the Columbia River Gorge. Jennie and husband Duane, aka Buzz, have been married 26 years. Jennie has two children living in Sacramento and working part time there allows her to see her children and 5 grandchildren regularly. This winter Jennie is looking forward to completing her first quilt.
